What is a manga?
Manga is one of the ways to express a story composed of pictures and lines born in Japan.
Osamu Tezuka, who is said to be the ancestor of manga, is an internationally famous manga artist. His main works are children’s cartoons such as Astro Boy and Blackjack, but the contents are well-crafted so that even adults can enjoy them, and they are popular with men and women of all ages.
Cartoon status
Manga was once considered vulgar, but today it has risen to the point where it can be counted as one of the new arts in France. For example, Sakamoto Shinichi’s manga “Lonely Man” and “Innocent” develop a story that includes high drawing power, descriptive power, and philosophical questions. The works of him and several other painters are even displayed in the Louvre as the ninth art.
